2. Integrating Cameras into the Curriculum

Aim
The aim of this workshop is to familiarise language teachers with the use of modern technology and help them feel more at ease with the use of videos and digital video cameras in the classroom.

The workshop consists of a series of class activities that give the students practical opportunities to operate a movie camera and enable them to produce a short film based on subjects and themes they have covered on the course.

Although students are given the necessary instruction in the use of filming equipment the main emphasis in the course is based on the notion that students learn more effectively
from being given "hands on" practical experience.

Courses
(15 to 30 hour course)

3. Using Authentic Video in Class

The aim of this workshop is to give teachers a wider range of ideas on how to use film and television in the classroom. The workshop includes activities that help participants to teach vocabulary and grammar through the process of film making,
a more exciting alternative to "sticking on the video" on a friday afternoon.

5. Creative writing and the use of non-linear narrative and thought in the classroom.

Teachers will have the opportunity to see how non-linear narratives and collaborative writing projects create an ideal environment for students who are learning English as a foreign language. We will also look at how non-linear narratives make excellent projects for the students to consolidate the language and grammar they learn during the term. Participants will be expected to produce their own collaborative story and from this learn how hypertext and interactive narratives can benefit their students.

Workshops:
(from 1 to 3 hours)

Courses:
10 hour course
